The Redline Custom AMX was really Mattel's first departure from the "big three" American automotive manufacturer at the time. There weren't many people who thought AMX was going to be successful considering their roots but in 1969 AMC shocked the industry with their success. What is interesting about the Redline Custom AMX is that unlike many Redline Customs, it actually remained fairly true to the original vehicle.
