Hot Wheels didnt only make cars that went into mainstream production. The Redline Custom Ford J-Car was modeled after a Ford prototype racing car that was never readily available to the public. Even though the real race car was driven by the world renowned Carroll Shelby, it never translated to a high value for the Hot Wheels versions. This makes it a great beginners collectable because of how cheap they are to acquire. Even a mint example can be had for around $35.
