The Redline Custom Barracuda was part of the first production year of Hot Wheels cars. While the pre-1970 Barracuda's were overshadowed by the the later models to car buyers, this wasn't the case in Hot Wheel collectors eyes. When these Hot Wheels cars came into production, there weren't actually any cars on the market that came in these sort of trim levels in colors. However, later into the 70's, Plymouth actually started to offer models similar to that of their smaller counter parts. This may have been the first time that the toy influenced the automaker and not the other way around.
